Which versions of Windows are supported?

Windows 11 and Windows 10 are supported. No testing has been performed on Windows 7. While Windows 10 is supported in the current release, it should be considered deprecated as a future release might drop support.

Does SoloDesk run inside of a web browser?

No. Web browsers are for cloud-based AI. As a local AI application, SoloDesk runs locally like a desktop application in its own window. As a result, the user’s firewall can continue to whitelist the web browser per usual.

Does SoloDesk use webui?

No. SoloDesk uses Microsoft .Net and runs like a normal Windows desktop application.

Do I need to give up my name or email address to use this software?

No. Just download directly from the website, install and run.

Is SoloDesk free software?

SoloDesk is currently in the beta phase of development, so it is currently free software. It requires an activation code (a simple copy and paste from the website) to run the generator for audio, video and 3D outputs. The image generator, mask editor and model downloader do not require an activation code.

Does the SoloDesk license require a subscription that has to be updated or is it a perpetual license?

The SoloDesk license is a perpetual license. Future versions might require their own perpetual license. Beta releases are also a perpetual license but only for the current beta version.

Does the SoloDesk license have to be activated over the internet?

No. The SoloDesk license is activated by entering the activation code into a dialog window within the app itself.

What is a “beta release?”

Sometimes, after big experimental changes are made to SoloDesk, it makes sense to do a beta release. LogitWorx will provide a beta activation code that will allow the user to activate the software and try it out free of charge. The About Box in the application user interface will indicate “Beta Release.”

In what form is the software delivered?

SoloDesk is currently delivered in the form of a single ISO file. It is downloaded, mounted by Windows, and the user clicks on a setup executable within the mounted ISO.

What is the future roadmap for SoloDesk AI?

AI is a rapidly evolving landscape and is difficult to predict. Users will have to stay updated for the latest breaking developments.

The download for SoloDesk is nearly 2 gigabytes! Since it includes no AI models, the size of the download seems excessive. Why all the bloat?

SoloDesk itself is quite a lean application. It is the third party libraries, specifically the ones pertaining to Nvidia, that take up all of the space. Requiring the user to obtain these on their own would require some measure of expertise that could detract from the original mission of user friendliness.

Does SoloDesk use any Python virtual environments?

While the app does make use of Python, it does not use virtual environments (it uses direct path management instead). The underlying mechanism of virtual environments requires manipulation of operating system environment variables through invasive and risky procedures. LogitWorx will not subject the user’s machine to such risks. It is the opinion of LogitWorxs that Microsoft should have deprecated environment variables decades ago such that this calamity known as the ”virtual environment” could have been averted.

What is the procedure to uninstall SoloDesk?

To uninstall, first locate SoloDesk in the Windows Control Panel Programs and Features. Then, uninstall from there. It will also be necessary to delete the remaining SoloDesk subdirectories within the “Program Files” and “ProgramData” directories.
